For your final assignment of the semester you have two different options:
- Create a mini unit of lesson plans for one of the books that we have discussed this semester
- You should create 4-5 consecutive lesson plans
- Each lesson plan should be 1-2 pages and include: standards, learning objectives, an aim, do now, activities, assessment plans and any homework
- any worksheets that students will be using in class or for homework
- You should also include a 1 page write up on how you conceived of the lessons and what students are meant to take away from the unit.
- Write a paper (6-8 pages MLA) on one or more of the texts we have read in class. The text you select should not be the same as your first paper. The paper should include around 5 outside academic sources (you may use secondary sources from class but these do not count towards the 5). No prompts will be given for this final assignment, but please feel free to discuss any ideas that you have with me.
Regardless of which option you select, you will be responsible for a 10 minute presentation on your final project. Your presentation should include some sort of visual aspect (such as a poster, powerpoint, prezzi, video etc) and discuss how you came up with your idea, and explain what you did. You may also use part of this time (no more than 2 minutes) to share any final thoughts about the class and the importance of queer young adult literature.
